Crucial Recognition Rules
To qualify for official DSIR recognition, your in-house R&D unit must strictly adhere to key structural guidelines.
Physical Separation
The R&D laboratory must have a clearly demarcated boundary and separate entry/exit, physically distinct from quality control, assembly, or general production lines.
Dedicated Manpower
The unit must employ qualified full-time scientific and technical R&D personnel (like PhDs, postgraduates, or engineering graduates) engaged exclusively in research.
Separate Bookkeeping
R&D revenue and capital expenditures must be maintained in a separate ledger account, audited by a Chartered Accountant, and not commingled with manufacturing costs.
