The DSIR Recognition Process

The DSIR Recognition Journey

A structured, professional approach from initial capability assessment to successful recognition and long-term compliance management.

1

Initial Assessment & Feasibility

We conduct an in-depth review of your organization's R&D capabilities, facility size, manpower profile, and research expenditures to confirm baseline compliance.

  • Verify dedicated partition and independent access of the R&D block.
  • Audit technical manpower qualifications (PhDs, Postgraduates, Engineers).
  • Evaluate capital investment on R&D apparatus and equipment.
2

Gap Analysis & Strategy Blueprint

Identify technical and administrative compliance gaps between your current laboratory setup and DSIR's strict guidelines.

  • Identify deficiencies in bookkeeping and separate R&D accounting ledgers.
  • Highlight missing documents in asset registration, patent filings, and layout blueprints.
  • Deliver a strategic roadmap to address infrastructure and personnel updates.
3

Documentation & Dossier Preparation

Compile a comprehensive technical and financial dossier, completing Form 3CK and structuring relevant technical annexures.

  • Draft detailed summaries of past research achievements and active projects.
  • Formulate projected R&D programs, milestones, and future investment plans.
  • Synthesize capital equipment lists and R&D manpower allocation tables.
4

Application Filing & Query Management

Formally submit the recognition application on the online DSIR portal and coordinate replies to any queries raised by the review board.

  • Upload application forms, technical dossiers, and audited financial declarations.
  • Monitor status and handle any clarification requests from evaluation officers.
  • Ensure all technical answers are aligned with compliance principles.
5

Physical Inspection Readiness

Prepare the R&D center, equipment display, research logs, and personnel for the critical physical walk-in inspection by the DSIR expert committee.

  • Conduct mockup inspections and rehearse presentations with lab heads.
  • Organize equipment asset lists and project documentation folders.
  • Coordinate the physical visit itinerary and inspection protocols.
6

Approval & Sustained Compliance

Upon successful receipt of the DSIR certificate, we help establish systems to sustain recognition and manage annual compliance reporting.

  • Implement dedicated accounting procedures for R&D capital/revenue spending.
  • Establish templates for maintaining research logbooks and progress records.
  • Support subsequent renewals and annual report filing processes.

Crucial Recognition Rules

To qualify for official DSIR recognition, your in-house R&D unit must strictly adhere to key structural guidelines.

Physical Separation

The R&D laboratory must have a clearly demarcated boundary and separate entry/exit, physically distinct from quality control, assembly, or general production lines.

Dedicated Manpower

The unit must employ qualified full-time scientific and technical R&D personnel (like PhDs, postgraduates, or engineering graduates) engaged exclusively in research.

Separate Bookkeeping

R&D revenue and capital expenditures must be maintained in a separate ledger account, audited by a Chartered Accountant, and not commingled with manufacturing costs.
